Utility Hydraulic System

Overview

The Utility system provides pressure to non essential aircraft services such as: * Rudder
Landing Gear
Gear Doors
Wheel Brakes
Wing Flaps
Nose Wheel Steering * Speed Brake
Gun and Purge Doors * RAT Doors

Operation

Speed Brake Switch

The speed brake switch is located on the throttle and commands the speed brake (aft) open or closed (forward).

Nose Wheel Steering Button

The nose wheel steering button is located on the stick near the pinky finger. One time depression of the button turns on nose wheel steering and subsequent depression turns off nose wheel steering.

Hydraulic Pressure Gauge

Select the "Utility" position on the hydraulic gauge selector switch to display the Utility hydraulic pressure.

Flap Switch

The flap switch is a three position guarded switch that commands the flaps to up, takeoff, or landing positions.

Anti Skid Switch

The anti skid switch commands hydraulic pressure to the skid detectors.

Emergency Flight Control System Power

The emergency hydaulic pump lever can be used to provide hydraulic power to the Utility system via extension of the ram air turbine (RAT).

Emergency Speed Brake Dump

The emergency speed brake dump lever can be used to release the speed brake hydraulic pressure.

Emergency Flap Switch

The emergency flap switch is a covered two position switch that commands emergency flap accumulator pressure to extend the flaps.

Landing Gear Handle

The landing gear position is commanded by the landing gear handle located on the front left console. The landing gear can be commanded up or down. See gear warning tone, see gear position lights.

Landing Gear Emergency Lowering Handle

The landing gear emergency lowering handle releases the landing gear and landing gear door up locks. The main landing gear will free fall under gravity, and the nose gear will be hydraulically actuated via the nose gear emergency lowering accumulator.

Lights

See indicator lights.
